Printing Methods For Manufacturing Sports Apparel

At LeelineSports, we offer advanced printing methods. They will bring your custom designs and logos to life. We have the right tech for you: direct-to-garment, heat transfer, screen printing, digital printing, or sublimation. It will make your designs look sharp, vibrant, and professional.

Screen Printing

  • High Durability: Screen-printed designs can endure 50 washes. They won’t lose vibrancy. This method is perfect for sportswear that sees heavy use.
  • Vibrant and Opaque Colors: The thick ink sits on the fabric. It creates bold, vivid colors that stay bright over time.
  • Economical for Bulk Orders: After making the screens, the print cost is very low. So, it’s the best choice for large runs (e.g., 100+ garments).

Sublimation Printing

Sublimation Printing

Sublimation is a process. Special inks are printed onto a transfer paper. Then, with heat (around 400°F or 200°C) and pressure, the ink turns to gas and bonds with the fabric fibers. This process dyes the fabric, rather than printing on the surface. The design becomes part of the material. This allows for highly durable, vibrant, and flexible prints.

Sublimation printing offers you the ability to create intricate, full-color designs that become part of the fabric itself. This results in sportswear that not only looks spectacular but also retains its breathability and performance characteristics.

Key Features:

Permanent Bonding: Sublimated prints won’t crack, peel, or fade. The ink is infused into the fabric’s fibers.

Breathability: Sublimation doesn’t add ink layers to the fabric. So, it keeps its original properties, like breathability and moisture-wicking.

Long-Lasting Color: Studies show that sublimated fabrics keep over 90% of their color after 100+ washes.

Heat Transfer Printing

Heat transfer printing uses heat and pressure. It transfers a design from special paper or vinyl onto fabric. The heat activates the adhesive on the back of the transfer and bonds it to the fabric. This method uses heat presses that operate at around 350°F (175°C) for 15-30 seconds.

It lets you personalize sportswear with names, numbers, or logos. It must be cost-effective and allow you for complex designs and vibrant colors.

Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printing

DTG printing uses a special inkjet printer to apply water based inks directly to the garment. The printer sprays ink onto the fabric. This allows for highly detailed and full color prints. After printing the garment is heat cured to set the ink. This method is like paper inkjet printing. It allows for detailed, multi color designs without screens or stencils.

DTG printing lets you create photorealistic designs on sportswear. There is no minimum order. Perfect for one off or small runs of custom designs. The print’s soft feel is great for comfort wear. It’s perfect for casual sportswear or fan merchandise.

Vinyl Cutting (Heat Transfer Vinyl – HTV)

Vinyl cutting is the process of using a plotter to cut a design from coloured vinyl sheets. The vinyl is then heat pressed onto the fabric. It uses high temperatures (around 305°F or 150°C) for 10-15 seconds. This method is great for making names, numbers and logos with a clean finish.
  • HTV allows you to personalize garments with names, numbers or logos. Vinyl has various finishes: glossy, matte, metallic and reflective. Perfect for creative sports designs.
  • Vinyl comes in many colors and effects: glitter, neon, metallic. So many options for creative designs.
  • Works with cotton, polyester, cotton-poly blends. So versatile for all sportswear.

The various vinyl finishes let you create eye-catching effects. They are perfect for making team uniforms or promotional sportswear stand out. The durability of vinyl means names and numbers on jerseys will last the season.
